Most, but not all, of the collections at the UMD Archives have collections guides in ArchivesSpace which will tell you more about what they contain, and some materials have been digitized and are freely available online. However, most of the collections have not been digitized. Please contact us at libarchives@d.umn.edu or 218-726-8526 with questions. We can help you get started with your research by email or phone and set up an appointment for you to use materials onsite. If you are unable to visit the archives in person, we may be able to locate and scan a limited number of materials for you.

Appointments are generally scheduled between 9:00 am and Noon and 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm Monday - Friday, but occasionally weekday evening and Saturday appointments are available.

Hours may be limited during the summer and breaks during the academic year.

The Archives at Kathryn A. Martin Library are located on the second floor of the Library Annex, in room 202.  To get there, you can enter the main doors of the library, take the stairs or the elevators to the second floor, and then head straight out of the elevators across the library to the annex hallway.  Please see the second floor library map and the Library Annex floor 2 map for more assistance...and please be sure to set up an appointment so we can assist you!
