What is copyright?

Copyright is the area of law that deals with creation,
ownership, sale, and use of creative and expressive works.

Copyright is intended to protect the interests of authors and inventors for a limited period of time, after which the public can benefit from the use and distribution of their creative work. Exclusive right to their work in turn will encourage the continued creation and dissemination of works for the betterment of society.
