Mendeley LogoAbout Mendeley

Mendeley is a free citation and file management application. It allows you to:

  • Extract metadata for each file, rename/move them, and sync across platforms.
  • Tag files, organize them into folders, annotate, and share with others (including annotations/notes).
  • Use the capabilities within Mendeley to generate a bibliography, or export bibliographic data to other citation management applications.

Mendeley Reference Manager and the Mendeley Cite add-in for Word is web-based and, therefore, incompatible with the University’s OIT-supplied version of Office365. For temporary functionality, users can install the Mendeley Reference Manager Mendeley Cite add-in to Microsoft Word by first logging out of their UMN accounts.

We recommend that all Mendeley users switch to Zotero. Instructions for this are at: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/mendeley_import
