Standards are agreed-upon guidelines or specifications.
Many of the relevant standards in environmental studies are published by the International Standards Organization. The ISO 14000s are a set of standards that deal with environmental management. Specific standards for manufacturing or health and safety may also address environmental issues. Some standards, as well as materials talking about how to apply the standards, are available through the UMD library. Searching for a specific standard you've identified through prior research is usually best.
