Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service created to help you access items that the Kathryn A. Martin Library or University of Minnesota libraries do not own. You can request physical books, digital articles, DVDs, microfilm, theses & dissertations, book chapters, etc. via ILL. This guide will help you navigate placing requests, tracking the status of your request, and managing your library account as well as answer frequently asked questions.
With our ILL system, you can request a variety of items but here are the most popular requests:
- Physical books - when we receive your request, we find a lender and they send us the physical book for you to check out
- Digital copies of book chapters - one of our lenders will scan a chapter and it will be delivered to your library account
- Digital copies of articles - one of our lenders will send a digital copy of an article from a specific journal
