Is the UMD Archives open?
Although the Library is open, the Library Annex where the Archives is located will be closed for the fall semester.
How can the Archives staff help me with my research remotely?
The Archives staff is available to answer questions by email and phone and to help you get access to digital archival materials. We cannot commit to specific turnaround times for research or digitization requests, but will respond to the best of our abilities. We are prioritizing requests that support the work of current UMD students, faculty, and staff.
Can I make an appointment to use hard-copy archival materials?
The Archives staff is currently offering appointments in person to current UMD students, faculty, and staff whose research needs for their UMD-related work require the use of a larger amount of material than is feasible for the archives staff to scan. The archives can provide 3 hour appointments for 1 person at a time as staff time permits.
We are not able to offer on-site appointments for external researchers to use hard-copy materials until further notice.
