Introduction

This guide is to help you locate test and test reviews that are available for educational and psychological testing.

When using the Library Catalog to search for test information, the following Library of Congress subject headings can be used:

ability-testing
achievement tests
character tests
educational tests and measurements
examinations
neuropsychological tests
preschool tests
psychological tests
stress relaxation tests
tests of achievement and proficiency

If you are looking for a particular test, try typing the name of the test in the keyword or title fields.

The UMD library does not carry most of these tests. Many of these sources provide infromation for purchasing the test. When using a unpublished test with a group, permisson should be requested from the author or publisher.

A good place to find out additional information is the American Psychological Association (APA) web site. An online resource is "Finding Information About Psychological Tests: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)." (http://www.apa.org/science/faq-findtests.html)

American Educational Research Association. (1999). Standards for educational and psychological testing. Washington, DC American Educational Research Association. REF LB3051 .A693 1999. This resource was prepared by the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing of the American Educational Research Association, the American Psychological Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education. It "reflects changes in federal law and measurement trends affecting validity; testing individuals with disabilities or different linguistic backgrounds; and new types of tests as well as new uses of existing tests.
