Welcome to Course Reserves

Course Reserves is a library service that provides access to materials that a professor or instructor has identified as being important to his/her course. Any faculty, instructor or TA can place items on reserve for courses they are teaching to ensure availability of the material to students.

Faculty, instructors and students can view their course reserves lists by logging into the Course Reserves website.

Placing items on reserve

Submit your requests 3 weekdays prior to making assignmennts from the reserve material. Items can be placed on reserve with a 3 hour loan or a 1 day loan period.

How to submit your reserve request:

  • You can download the Reserve Processing Request form below. Please be sure to include all course and item information and return as an email attachement to

  • Or, visit the Circulation Desk where paper forms are available to fill out and turn in.

Requests are processed as quickly as possible. You will receive an email notification when your items are on reserve.

Requests are processed in the order they are received. Materials are often available the day the reserve request was received. Please be aware that personal copies require anywhere from 1 to 4 days to process and become available for student check out. Reserve processing at the beginning of semester may take longer due to the amount of material to be processed.  Please indicate if you need rush service.

Materials that have been placed on reserve are located at the Circulation desk on the first floor of the Kathryn A. Martin Library. Reserve items are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one reserve item may be checked out at a time. Overdue reserve items will incur fines of $1.00 per hour around the clock up to a maximum of $15 per item. To avoid late charges return reserve materials promptly.

Taking items off reserve

  • Reserve materials are removed from reserve and personal copies returned to you as soon as time permits following the end of the semester.
  • To remove items from reserve earlier than you originally indicated you can download the off reserve request form below and return it via email or a paper form is available at the library circulation desk.
