Atlases are collections of maps - some atlas are very general but others can be on very specific subjects. While most atlases are in the G's, others may be grouped in with their subject area rather than with other atlases. For example, an atlas about the history of Medieval Britain could be classed with history material. Atlases contain so much more information than where things are, that you can use them as a good reference source for many topics. The tabs at the top of the page are a quick way to access many of the UMD Library's Reference Collection Atlases.
